Portraits of FARAWAY BASIL looking especially angry can be found amongst his other portraits, both with and without his flower. They appear to be unfinished, as the animation ends before he plunges the knife into his chest.
Although it never appears in the final release, it can still be found in his spritesheet, along with a dark variant.Ĭuriously, there are sprites of BASIL nodding and shaking his head, suggesting he was intended to be playable at one point during development.Īlongside that, sprites of him stabbing himself with a knife, similarly to SUNNY. This sprite of BASIL huddled up in despair was shown on the OMORI Twitter account prior to the game's launch. There exist sprites of FARAWAY BASIL with his camera, even though in he never uses it in the final game. In-game, this spirit-like MARI only has one line of dialogue, and the portrait used has black eyes with white pupils. MARI has a full set of unused portraits for her appearance in the sequence before entering DEEP WELL for the first time. Notably, this portrait is called in a commented-out cutscene meant for the Good Ending. It appears to be a lighter version of SUNNY, and it doesn't have much of a resemblance to any of SUNNY'S battle portraits. SUNNY has a single unused portrait stored in MARI's spritesheet. An early drawing of a SPIDER CAT, stored in the game's directory for character portraits as "00_BLANK."
